Dr Swellings

Created by Stu 2 years ago

Having worked in Physics (for ever and a day) during all the time which Simon was here, we spent many hours putting the world to rights, whether that be in the Fenton on a Friday evening or on our journey back to Kippax. We had some laughs on those journeys too, one time passing a bus stop in Kippax I assumed Simon had seen someone he knew as he wound down the window to lean out and shout "bus stop ......." at them all - turns out he had watched the Inbetweeners movie the previous night - I did have a bit of a sense of humour failure in case someone had taken my Registration number.

I even got dragged into helping with one of his scifi movies (not my scene at all) but I was chuffed to be mentioned in the credits and am still waiting for the royalties. Definitely the last time I saw someone in a wetsuit painted silver running round some woods.

Happy memories of a thoroughly nice bloke, sadly gone too soon. Dr Swellings as we often referred to him, although he may or may not have been a real doctor -  that didn't matter to us, occasionally as DJ Swellings - when he went through a phase with his decks.

Our chosen family charity this year in lieu of Christmas presents was MND @ Leeds Hospital Trust in memory of Simon and a friend of Mums  - both taken from us decades apart, but far too young.
